late august sunshine
pierced parted
curtains
and transformed
into splashes
of chalk,
pale yellow
and gold.
she emerged
from her indigo past
and paused
in the hall,
nimble fingers
undoing each button
one by one
until she was done.
removing her blouse
and letting it fall,
she faced
the stuccoed wall
as a breeze
blew in from the bay
and kissed
her glistening skin.
i stood transfixed,
frozen by
her beauty
and unable to apply
a single brushstroke
to canvas,
my heart pounding
in my chest.
she glanced
over her shoulder,
dark eyes imploring me
to begin.
so with a trembling
hand, i did.
