(mostly) short poems on life and love

three phases of light

June 22, 2018 by Michael Guerin

in predawn morning hours
hope can crest the horizon
and bathed in its ambient glow
so much still seems possible.

in the sharp glare of day
with sun proudly poised over-
head sitting at the edge of noon
your dreams may melt away.

but this late afternoon light
sweetly slanting through heavy
air on a melancholy angle
makes everything feel alright.
