(mostly) short poems on life and love

a sunset

July 19, 2018 by Michael Guerin

a cool, dry summer breeze
skates across a freshly mown lawn

at the edge of a walled field
two deer wait, a doe and her fawn

and though the hour is late
as an amber sun sinks into night

my soul burns to awaken
borne aloft by the fading light.
