(mostly) short poems on life and love

the tolling bell

August 1, 2018 by Michael Guerin

wrapped in grief’s embrace
never sweetly felt
what lingers deep inside
to rattle a chest cold as ice

while reason wanders past?
and lost in darkness
blacker than night
without a path to guide,

how can a soul
truly rent apart
ever find its weary
way back?

(triptych of grief, i)

(for fanny brawne)
