(mostly) short poems on life and love

searching for sugar man

October 3, 2018 by Michael Guerin

an inner city poet
with barely enough to eat
eyes fixed on the ground
in the city which he keeps
no places dare to hold him
no sugar and no treats
a sympathetic soul
wandering dirty streets.

a man can lose a job
but worse to lose your way
and a fact as cold as ice
will never warm your day
and when the final act
ends this tired play
I wonder if he’ll go
or finally choose to stay.
