(mostly) short poems on life and love

sweat & steel

November 10, 2018 by Michael Guerin

as one who has toiled in the fields
borne of sweat and steel
and labored beneath a yellowing sun
under which all our colors run,

should you find yourself alone at last
feet still planted in collective clay
to yourself this singular question ask —
to whom do you owe this day?
