(mostly) short poems on life and love

broken (ii)

August 28, 2019 by Michael Guerin

it never occurred to me
that an angel’s wing
could get broken.

and as i found her sitting
beneath an oak
wrapped in a cloak

of sorrow and silence
dared to venture close
beside her

(and wondered to myself
how she could have
fallen so far

yet land with such grace
holding it all
together).

with nothing left to offer
i held her hand
and cried.
