I saw raven today
perched on a power line
and bid him to deliver
a message to you
even though thousands of miles
separate us
and an ocean deep as death.
At my request he took to flight
and headed west.
I don’t know how far
raven might fly
before giving up or turning back
and passing my thoughts
over to memory.
Still, I trust
these words will find you
one way
