(mostly) short poems on life and love

cherry blossoms (v)

July 3, 2021 by Michael Guerin

a week of rain has stained
rooftops with cherry
blossom petals, their pale pink
papery remains stuck
in place.

in this part of town
the scars of war
still pockmark building walls
when bombs fell like
so much rain.

over the gulf
an army of clouds gather,
heavy with rain.

under a cherry tree
stripped bare of blossoms,
i pray.
