(mostly) short poems on life and love

vespers (iii)

August 11, 2021 by Michael Guerin

a cool evening breeze rustles dune grass.
two crescent moons hang low over the sea,
their slivered faces kissing the ocean
with a shower of diamonds. she emerges
from gentle waves, her naked body glistening
with sand and sweat as each step drips
liquid poetry, catching my breath in both hands.

my thundering heartbeat drowns out all sound
as she tumbles into my outstretched arms.
