sunflowers (vi)

she paused by the garden gate
framed in sunflowers.
morning light kissed her face,
flaming her hair.

behind a stone wall two deer
looked up, then paused.
mockingbirds filled the air
with their calls.

she took a deep breath,
hands on hips.
standing on the back steps
i drank it all in.
