(mostly) short poems on life and love

Seahorse Diner, 7:53 am

December 31, 2021 by Michael Guerin

An empty bone-white beach
glistens under a pale
December sun.

Midwestern snowbirds crowd
my favorite diner
overlooking the bay.

Through an open window
I track a lone sailboat
slowly tacking east.

A channel buoy flashes red
and gently bobs in time
with the sea.

Snippets of conversation
intersect as old friends
reconnect once again.
