(mostly) short poems on life and love

ocean rain

January 1, 2022 by Michael Guerin

dark gray clouds
thunder east
and threaten to drench me
in relentless waves
of ice cold rain.

it’s been four years
since she sailed
past horizon’s reach
without a note to explain
her reasons.

with bare feet planted
on a bone white beach
i wait patiently
for all that life
might have in store.

so let these hurricanes
rake the shore
until all that remains
is stripped clean
or washed away.
