(mostly) short poems on life and love

april rain

April 1, 2022 by Michael Guerin

another gray morning
wakes the day
as ice-cold gusts
shower my window
with heavy rain.

corrugated tin overhead
thunders in time
with wave upon wave
of angry,
relentless rain.

outside my room
there’s nothing to do
as neighbors duck
into cars
or sprint in vain

for locked front doors
in a desperate bid
to avoid
getting drenched
by april rain.
