(mostly) short poems on life and love

through the veil

October 8, 2022 by Michael Guerin

her voice, heavy with night,
breathes through the veil
and tickles my ear.

half-asleep, i have no idea
what her whispered words
might mean.

bathed in autumnal moonlight,
her side of the bed
remains cold.

i roll on my side and reach
for her, but there’s no
one left to hold.
