(mostly) short poems on life and love

Afternoon Nor’easter

February 15, 2024 by Michael Guerin

Cold rain hammers clay
roof tiles, its staccato rhythm
hypnotic in a room devoid
of light.

Through the speckled window,
bare branches bend
stiffly from each strong
and sudden gust.

With nothing to do,
my mind crests fertile dunes
of idle imagination
in some faraway land…

your sun-kissed skin
shimmering
like molten bronze beneath
my fevered touch.
