(mostly) short poems on life and love

nothing

July 4, 2024 by Michael Guerin

it’s midnight,
but no stars shine
with a thick blanket
of clouds poised
overhead.

my window is open,
yet no sea-scented
breezes drift
into this stuffy
room.

stripped naked,
the bed
is an endless ocean
with her half
vacant and still.

the clock on the wall
continues
its unceasing chore,
the hands
sweeping

out vast stretches
of time
but only able
to capture
nothing.
